Dr Sara Brandellero (s.l.a.brandellero AT hum.leidenuniv.nl) – Sara Brandellero is Assistant Professor in Brazilian Studies at Leiden University (Netherlands). Her main research interests are in the fields of literature and film, engaging specifically with issues of national identity, the relationship with history and politics, gender studies, diaspora, mobility, landscape and the environment. This has involved work on modernist and contemporary writing in postcolonial and postdictatorial perspectives, Afro-Brazilian literature in comparative framework, and travel narratives and mobility in film. Dr Stephanie Dennison (s.dennison AT leeds.ac.uk) – Stephanie Dennison is Reader in Brazilian Studies at the University of Leeds. Her research focuses on Brazilian film culture: she is co-author with Lisa Shaw of two monographs on Brazilian cinema (Popular Cinema in Brazil, MUP 2004 and Brazilian National Cinema, Routledge 2007), and has recently co-edited with Maite Conde the first English-language critical edition of the essays of Paulo Emilio Salles Gomes. She is currently a Leverhulme Academic Fellow at Unicamp, Brazil, where she is carrying out fieldwork for a forthoming single-authored book entitled Remapping Brazilian Film Culture in the 21st Century. She is also working on a collaborative project examining the role of film in the soft-power strategies of BRICS nations.
Dr Tori Holmes (t.holmes AT qub.ac.uk) – Tori Holmes is Lecturer in Brazilian Studies at Queen’s University Belfast. Her main research interests are in digital culture and the texts and practices of urban representation in Brazil. Her previous work has looked at blogging by Brazilian favela residents, and she is currently working on Brazilian webdocumentaries relating to urban change.
